Stephen George Schurger
Tennessee Technological University
I am a twenty-two year old senior here at Tennessee Tech.
I am originally from Kingsport, TN., but now I consider Cookeville my home.
When I came to Tech my sights were set on becoming an engineer. After a
few semesters though, I realized that doing something I actually enjoyed was
more important to me than being an engineer. That is what led me to
becoming a geology major. I have currently completed the majority of the
geology courses that are offered here at Tech. For the past few semesters
I have acted as a lab TA. Currently my energy is now focused on working on
my Senior Thesis. After graduation I plan on attending graduate school to
further my education in Geology. Outside of class I try to stay busy.
I am currently the Vice-President of the Geo-Club, along with being an active
part of many other organization on campus. In my free time, I try and stay
outside as much as possible. Backpacking, canoeing, and mountain biking
are just a few of the activities that I enjoy doing. And of course I can't
leave out geology.
